Currumbin Beach ~ Gold Coast Wedding Photographer | Niki D
GOLD COAST WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
Aaron + Jennifer got married at The Alley, Currumbin Beach.
They chose to to say I Do as the sun rose over the beautiful horizon. Such an amazing sunrise with the most stunning colours! These two were blessed with a very beautiful morning!

What would you like to tell Brides about your experience with Niki D Photography and Film
From my first enquiry, Niki has been so lovely to work with. When considering my wedding photographer, it was important that they matched the style of photography I preferred, and I felt at ease with them – they would be around quite a bit on such an important day! Niki was my first choice on both counts. The way Niki sets you at ease shows in her beautiful, natural photography.
Is there a special reason you chose this venue
I grew up coming to this beach for family holidays. Aaron comes down here for an early morning surf. It’s such a beautiful and relaxed part of the Gold Coast where we have already made many special memories. We wanted a beach ceremony and Currumbin seemed like the perfect place.
Tell us how you met
We met during a job interview seven years ago. (Aaron was interviewing Jen.) It wasn’t until 18 months after meeting that we started dating after meeting at social events outside of work. We weren’t sure if we should mix work with romance but I’m so glad we took the chance.
How did the Proposal happen
Aaron took me on a picnic by the creek at O’Reilly’s Vineyard. After Aaron got down on one knee- and I said ‘yes!’ he took me up to the Mouses House Rainforest Chalets for the night to celebrate. Aaron had secretly packed an overnight bag and organised the day off work for me the next day. It was the most perfect surprise. I never saw it coming! One year and two weeks later we were back at the Mouses House celebrating our marriage!
How did you choose your Bridal Party
We chose to keep our wedding as simple as possible and chose not to have a wedding party.
Where will you be honeymooning
We spent a couple of days in the Springbrook Hinterland. We drove up to straight after the wedding to enjoy the rest of the day together, relaxing as husband and wife.
What was your funniest moment
Nothing really funny happened.. My grandparents were running late to the ceremony. I was about to walk down the aisle when they arrived. While it was lovely to see them before that big moment, the sun was rising so we were on a pretty strict time schedule. There was a moment I thought I was going to be stuck standing behind a tree while I could see this glorious sunrise beginning. As it turns out, the sun rose as I walked down the aisle, creating a more beautiful moment than I had planned.
What was your favourite memory from the day
The ceremony at sunrise was such a special moment. It was a beautiful moment with the sun rising over the ocean while we exchanged our personal vows in front of our closest family and friends.
Is there anyone you would like to thank
We are so thankful for our family and friends for forgoing their precious Saturday morning sleep-in to share our sunrise wedding with us.
We would like to thank all the wonderful vendors for helping create the most special day.
My hair and makeup artist Melissa- starting work at 3am! Not only did she transform me at a time I usually look like the walking-dead, she was such a calming presence while we were getting ready.
Our celebrant Wendy went above and beyond, getting us coffees after the ceremony so we could have a quiet moment to ourselves. She created the most personal ceremony that was so ‘us’.
The Vikings Surf Club were wonderful in accommodating our morning reception. They had never held a breakfast wedding reception so early in the morning and nothing was too much trouble.
Aero Coffee Van were fantastic, providing a much needed caffeine hit for our guests. All our guests commented about how friendly they were as the pumped-out the coffee.
Jo from Adam’s Garden Florist, for designing our beautiful reception centrepieces and creating my special six-part bouquet, so my special ladies could hand me my flowers as I walked down the aisle.
And of course Niki, THANK YOU! You are such a trooper for getting up so early in the morning! You helped us feel so relaxed at such an important moment in our lives. We aren’t used to having our picture taken and you made it feel like we were just chatting with an old friend. I absolutely love the first photo. I can’t wait to see the rest!
What would be your advice for Brides
Don’t be afraid to choose non-traditional elements in your wedding and ditch traditional elements that don’t mean anything to you. If it’s personal and it’s ‘you’ it will work
